In a strong response to recent claims made by Okatakyi Afrifa, the host of Angel TV’s morning show, the Communications Secretariat for the Amenfi Central Constituency has issued a public statement refuting the allegations against their parliamentary candidate, Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe. The allegations falsely linked Madam Cudjoe’s personality to illegal mining activities, commonly known as “Galamsay.”
According to the Communications Secretariat, the claims were inaccurate and part of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing Madam Cudjoe’s reputation. The statement categorically rejected any suggestion that Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe was involved in illegal mining, emphasizing her long-standing opposition to such activities.
The Secretariat highlighted that Madam Cudjoe has consistently advocated for responsible and sustainable mining practices throughout her career. She has been an outspoken critic of the damaging effects of illegal mining, including environmental degradation and the destruction of water bodies. The statement asserts that Madam Cudjoe is committed to promoting best practices within the mining sector and upholding the law.
Madam Cudjoe’s business, Golden Empire Legacy Ltd, is a registered and licensed gold buying company, specializing in the export of gold. The company, the statement explained, does not engage in “Galamsay” operations, but instead follows legal procedures, promoting environmentally friendly and socially responsible mining practices.
Furthermore, the Secretariat stressed that Madam Cudjoe’s company maintains a strong stance against the illegal practices that contribute to environmental destruction. They emphasized her commitment to corporate social responsibility, highlighting that her company actively opposes activities that harm the environment or communities.
The Communications Secretariat urged the public, particularly the people of Amenfi Central Constituency, to dismiss these claims as baseless and unfounded. They condemned the allegations as malicious and warned that they were intended to mislead the public and undermine Madam Cudjoe’s highly respected reputation.
The statement concluded by urging the public to reject these false claims and support Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe in her political and business endeavors. The Communications Secretariat also called on media personnel and political opponents to cease spreading falsehoods that could damage the integrity of the candidate.
