The Traditional Council of Asante Akyem Akutuase in the Ashanti region has fined the father of a young man whose corpse was mishandled in a viral social media video. The father must bring a sheep and GH₵500 for violating the tradition of burying the deceased in his wife’s hometown instead of Akutuase. Additionally, he must purify the sacred stone, Brosambour, with a sheep, a bottle of schnapps, and GH₵1,000 on July 17, 2024.

The person who recorded and shared the video, Nana Kofi, has also been fined GH₵500 and must purify Brosambour with a sheep, 2 bottles of schnapps, and GH₵1,000. Further rituals require Kofi to provide 2 sheep, GH₵5,000, and four bottles of schnapps to prevent any calamities in the community.

The chief, Nana Kofi Bediako, noted that three individuals involved in carrying the corpse have since passed away.
