The Bole Magistrate Court, led by His Worship Edward Essel, has remanded three poachers arrested in Mole National Park. The suspects, Saaka Karim (26), Abdulai Adam (25), and Ahmed Fatawu (23), are farmers from Laribanga in the Savannah region.

The trio was apprehended by park staff during a patrol on June 27, 2024. Prosecutor ASP Wisdom Pavis reported that staff followed footprints leading to the suspects and managed to capture three of the five men.

Items retrieved included a bowl of gari, stew, sugar, salt, a gun, and cartridges.

Mole National Park’s Law Enforcement Officer, Alfred Kofi Baba, revealed that Karim had previously poached in the park and was fined GH₵1,920 in 2020 after injuring a staff member, Haruna Hashim. Despite paying the fine, Karim continued poaching.

The suspects are scheduled to reappear in court on July 12, 2024.
