Reggae Dancehall artist Stonebwoy expressed disappointment that Ghana did not join as a founding member of the Grammy Africa initiative. He emphasized the potential benefits for Ghana’s creative industry if it had participated. Stonebwoy thanked Dentaa Amoateng and supporters for their efforts.

He questioned why Ghana couldn’t secure funds to seal the deal like Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa did. Stonebwoy urged the government to consider private sector help for funding.

Earlier, Dentaa Amoateng disclosed Ghana’s absence among the founding nations due to not meeting the Recording Academy’s requirements. She clarified that while Ghanaian artists can still be nominated for Grammys, the country misses out on hosting and other benefits.

The Grammy Africa initiative, announced by the Recording Academy in June 2024, aims to expand globally to Africa and the Middle East, celebrating the region’s music and fostering international music exchanges.
