St. John’s Grammar Secures Spot in 2024 NSMQ National Stage with Dominant Victory

In an impressive display of intellectual prowess, St. John’s Grammar School from Achimota triumphed in the regional qualifiers on the third day of the Greater Accra region, earning a place in the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) national stage. The team outshone their rivals, finishing with 53 points, far ahead of their competitors.

St. John’s Grammar, having been eliminated in the one-eighth stage of the 2023 NSMQ by Keta Senior High Technical School, made a powerful comeback. They faced off against Kwabenya Community SHS, Christian Methodist SHS, and Presbyterian SHS, Tema, securing a decisive victory.

Right from the first round, St. John’s Grammar took a commanding lead with 23 points. Kwabenya Community SHS followed, with Christian Methodist and Presbyterian SHS trailing behind. As the competition heated up, St. John’s Grammar continued to widen the gap, showcasing their dominance.

Despite attempts by Kwabenya Community SHS to close the gap in the third round, St. John’s Grammar solidified their lead in the final round, concluding with 53 points. Kwabenya Community SHS finished second with 36 points, while Christian Methodist SHS and Presbyterian SHS, Tema earned 19 and 15 points respectively.

This victory marks a significant achievement for St. John’s Grammar, symbolizing a chance for redemption after their previous year’s setback. For their outstanding performance, they were awarded GH₵1,000.00 and will advance to compete on the national stage of the 2024 NSMQ.
