Coach Kwesi Appiah, Asante Kotoko’s technical director, hopes both Sudan and Ghana qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Following the AFCON qualifying draw, Appiah’s Sudan team will face Ghana, Angola, and Niger in Group F.

Since becoming Sudan’s head coach, Appiah has led the team to impressive performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. With AFCON qualifiers starting in September, he is confident Sudan will be ready.

“There are no weak teams in football now. Preparation and the right squad are crucial,” Appiah told 3Sports. He expressed his hope that both Ghana and Sudan will advance to AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Appiah previously coached Ghana’s national team, leading them in past AFCON tournaments and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
