John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged fathers to take up their responsibilities and be actively involved in their families’ lives. During a Father’s Day event with the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, Mahama highlighted the significance of being a responsible father.

Acknowledging the challenges of fatherhood, Mahama urged fathers to be role models and pillars of support for their families. “It is not easy to be a father, to wake up in the morning and provide for your family. It’s not easy to pay the rent or put food on the table,” he said.

He humorously noted the scenario of fathers hiding from landlords, urging instead for financial responsibility. “May God bless you all so that you won’t have to hide under your beds when your landlord is coming. Be the father who promptly pays your children’s school fees and ensures they go to school,” Mahama encouraged.

The former President also stressed the importance of honesty and integrity in managing household utilities, discouraging illegal connections. “You will be the father who pays your utility bills and avoids illegal practices,” he stated.

Mahama concluded by seeking divine support for all fathers, saying, “May God grant all of us divine replenishment to be able to fulfill our responsibilities.”
