Hajia4Reall, a Ghanaian socialite, has been sentenced to one year in a US prison for her involvement in a romance scam. The court’s decision came after her legal team successfully argued for a reduced sentence compared to the government’s request for up to 46 months. Her attorneys had sought a three-month sentence, emphasizing her role as a single mother needing to care for her child.

Hajia4Reall, whose real name is Mona Montrage, pleaded guilty in February 2024 to charges related to the scam, which involved laundering money from fraudulent activities. She was extradited from the UK in May 2023 after being arrested there in November 2022.

In court, she revealed that her involvement in the scam stemmed from a relationship with a man named Allison, who introduced her to fraudulent schemes. Reports indicate she received $89,000 in wire transfers as part of the scam.

Following the sentencing, her legal team from Fast Law PLC expressed satisfaction with the outcome and stated that Hajia4Reall would issue a statement in due course. She will serve her sentence of one year and a day without additional detention by ICE upon release.
