Ghana Airports Company pledges swift action and enhanced security following Kotoka Airport luggage theft reports. The reports detailed numerous frustrated individuals at the KIA baggage complaints office, lamenting over missing items from their luggage. The publication called for stricter access controls to prevent unauthorized entry into luggage storage areas.

In a statement released on Sunday, June 16, the GACL management acknowledged the concerns and stated, “We have taken note of the issues raised and are taking necessary steps to investigate and address them promptly.” The statement also mentioned ongoing plans to restrict access to non-travellers and unauthorized personnel in security zones, such as baggage hold areas.

The GACL emphasized that any individual found guilty of theft or extortion, actions detrimental to passengers’ experiences and the company’s reputation, would face severe legal consequences. “Management wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to ensuring that operations at the airport are safe and secure for our travellers,” the statement concluded.
