Fire razed the Christ Embassy building in Lagos’s Oregun area on Sunday morning. Thick black smoke was seen coming from the white building. The Lagos state fire service responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. Police cordoned off the area to maintain order, stopping traffic and pedestrian movement.

Worshipers moved their morning service to Corner Stone, a church annex, because of the fire. Initial reports suggest an electrical spark may have caused the blaze. Christ Embassy, led by Chris Oyakhilome, is one of Nigeria’s largest churches.
