Soldiers stationed in a galamsey area in Bole, Savannah Region, allegedly attacked Yakubu Mahama, the Vice Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The soldiers were reportedly protecting Chinese nationals engaged in illegal mining. Trouble began when Yakubu Mahama asked to speak with the leader of the soldiers.

Mahama’s brother alerted the NPP Secretary for Bole-Bamboi, who arrived at the police station with a group of young men, intensifying the situation.

Amid the chaos, the soldiers allegedly fired shots and assaulted Yakubu Mahama, resulting in injuries.

In response, Mahama’s brother issued a stern warning to the soldiers, stating that such actions would not be tolerated again.
