Bawku and Bunkpurugu: Interior Ministry Extends Curfew, Implements Weapons Ban

The Ministry of Interior has renewed the curfew in Bawku Municipality, Upper East Region, and Bunkpurugu township and its environs, North East Region. The curfew will be from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, starting Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Interior Minister Henry Quartey announced the renewal through an Executive Instrument. The Ministry urged local leaders and residents to remain calm and seek peaceful solutions to ongoing issues.

Additionally, there is a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in these areas. Anyone found with such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
